Additional research and development has resulted in extension of the varieties available and A.B. Supplies (UK) Ltd. is now the main source of sets for growers in the UK and Ireland.

All sets are within the N.A.K.T. quality assurance scheme. Each net is separately numbered for full traceability.

An Elite scheme was initiated in 2003 with production in total isolation on land never previously used for onion production. First sets from this scheme supplied in September ’03 (overwinter) and Spring ’04. These sets are analysed post harvest by Central Science Laboratory UK.

Sets are supplied with counts per kg per size grade to ensure quantity is correct for the area to be planted. Surplus or shortfall is closely monitored. Target is to ensure there is minimal shortfall or surplus.

Samples of all lots are taken to check quality and set count per kg, then kept for up to 12 months in Controlled Atmosphere storage, should there be any need to refer back.

Any varieties grown from sets can be sourced for clients (or produced on contract).
